Apple and Nike were just the latest (and highest profile) companies to resign in protest from the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, citing the Chambers' foolish and self-serving opposition to climate change legislation. To two heavyweight brands could turn, what has recently been a mere trickle of resignations, into a full blown gusher. Oddly enough, even some energy providers are backers of the legislation and cite the Chambers' opposition as reason for quitting the agency. Exelon, the nation's largest…

This Yale educated lawyer, has been an advocate of working class Americans, getting a seat at the table when it comes to economic rewards of "going green". He's brought municipalities, businesses and citizens together, all in an innovative approach to sustainable, urban renewal and development. We applaud his willingness to serve his country. And we deplore the lack of support he got from the Obama Administration. Especially since the original attacks came from Fox News' Glenn Beck, the very sam…

With poll numbers that even shocked the most ardent supporters of vehicle electrification, the Washing Post is reporting, that in its most recent Washington Post - ABC News Poll, Americans seem to be strongly in favor automakers' development of electric car technology. In fact, more than 8 out of 10 people contacted in the survey, say they not only support, but even follow the efforts car manufacturers to go electric. Also, in the same poll, 7 in 10 Americans backed using cash rebates in the Car…

Much to the pleasant surprise of Iran, US car and truck drivers continue their perilous march toward economic, energy and climate endangerment. The Iran regime privately praised citizens of the US, for collectively importing 374 million barrels of oil in the month of June, at a cost of $25 billion, representing nearly two-thirds of total consumption (See Wall Street Journal). With 70% of imported oil going into cars and trucks - the heart of our nation's transportation system - Iran's newly 'ele…

It has been well chronicled, that 'the powers that be' at Toyota, are no fans of electric vehicles. But wait, you say, Toyota produces the most successful hybrid vehicle in the world, the venerable Prius. Yes they do. However, the Prius is just that, a hybrid. It still requires gasoline (produced from oil) to operate. And since many believe full vehicle electrification is best for our energy security, environmental security and economic security (see Monday's Wall Street Journal article from T.…

GM recently released statements claiming its, soon-to-debut, Chevy Volt is capable of reaching 230 mpg in city driving. An outstanding accomplishment by any measure. But wait! The EPA has come back and said, "not so fast". It seems GM may have gotten a little to far forward on their skis. But hey, when is the last time the world paid this much attention to GM? Besides, one can always walk back any 'inaccurate' claims. The question is, why would they?

As long time proponents of PHEV's, EV's and supporting infrastructure investments, Go Eco
is proud to see President Obama spearheading government participation with today's
annoucement of $2.4 billion in Recovery Act grant money. Although there is more to be done,
this will go a long way toward convincing the private sector that the US is serious about vehicle
electrification, and thus spark subsequent venture capital investments.
An announcement such as this adds even more credibility to the a…

More and more stundents are demanding, and receiving, degree programs
in environmental sciences and related studies. Sustainable degrees, as many
call them, have been proliferating with the nation's unyielding march toward
renewable energy, sustainable development and increased efficiency.
Penn has went so far as to develop an MBA program for environmental
sciences, in anticipation of a swelling demand for a workforce with the
attendant skill sets. And, among the current professional class, LEE…

We here at Go-Eco, are strongly encouraged by House Democrats finally looking to frame
the climate change (global warming) debate in terms of national security. We were never
ones to believe things like the absurdity of a tree, yes a tree, having legal standing in
a court of law. And this from an organization that feels very deeply about perils of
deforestation.
For us, the argument has primarily been one of increasing efficiency and reducing
and or even eliminating harmful waste, such as carbo…

In the last couple of weeks, Go Eco has taken a couple of meetings on the growing
adoption of "cool roofs" in warmer areas of the US, or those cities with particularly
hot summers, like New York and Chicago.
Cool roofs are made up of a shiny white plastic covering that reflects up to 90 percent
of the sun's rays, resulting in far less heat absorption. And, as a consequence, cutting
residential energy costs by as much as 30 percent in some areas.
Energy Secretary and physics Noble laureate Stev…

Mount Vernon seems to be on track to be one of the first, if not the first, city in Westchester
County to introduce electric charging stations. As Go-Eco continues to work closely with the
administration to push alternative fuel vehicles as well as alternative fuels. Mount Vernon's compact
geographic layout, makes it an excellent candidate for electric vehicles. The cars are expected to initially
go to a few select departments, and then grow to include others if the program proves viable.

The New York Auto Show has ended, but we had a wonderful time, and it was worth our being there. There was so much to
take in, and we managed to meet a lot of great people who seem very much interested in the growth and progression of
alternative/ clean-fuel technologies. There were a number of new announcements from the major automakers with respect to their respective "green" initiatives. GM's much hyped Volt, a PHEV expected to go into production in the next couple of years, was actually quit…

Just a few days outside of our first radio interview, Go-Eco has been invited to do another program. We are very excited to be returning to the airwaves, and we expect to have a lively and informative discussion. Go-Eco has made tremendous strides in just the last two weeks, thanks to all of our supporters out there. Once the show has aired, we will be supplying the full interview right here in the Go-Eco community site. We'll post the station and web site this weekend so that those who wish, ca…

Sometimes we wish we could see some sort of barometer that measured the growth of Go-Eco
on any given day. Yesterday was such a day. After an exhaustive search, we have found an amzing
individual to come in and help lead Go-Eco in some of our most policy efforts. As you can imagine
we're very excited at this fortunate turn of events, and once all the "i"'s are
dotted and the "t"'s crossed, we'll be announcing the news here on our blog, first.
On another front, a couple of people on our team had…

Although we've been unable to post recently, the team at Go-Eco has been hard at work behind the scenes. There have been meetings with business leaders and politicians, which we will report on here in the coming days and weeks. We are proud to say, our story is quickly spreading throughout the community, leading to ever increasing support. In fact, after hearing about Go-Eco through word-of-mouth, we were invited by Richard Garfunkel of The Advocates ( WVOX ), to to do an interview on the emergi…

That day, something changed. I immediately began to learn everything I could about the Prius. Who drove this car? Why did they drive it? What did they have in common? Where do they live, primarily? Why did Toyota build it in the first place? What has been its impact on the auto industry? What has been the impact culturally? These are just a few of the questions I needed answers for. Oddly enough, I wasnt' inquiring on behalf of myself, or anyone else I knew for that matter. No, this was somethin…

The question of how one contributes, is just the type of question to sit in the pit of your stomach eliciting a horrible
ache if you were not prepared to swallow it. At the time, I was not. And so it stayed with me, gnawing, churning, expanding within in me, unitl it forced out all the "hot air" I'd previously used to sustain myself when talk of my fellow man ( and in particular, my responsibilities to him ) was afoot. And then, one unsuspecting summer day, the answer to the question that had ha…
