Today, For Tomorrow.

Much to the pleasant surprise of Iran, US car and truck drivers continue their perilous march toward economic, energy and climate endangerment. The Iran regime privately praised citizens of the US, for collectively importing 374 million barrels of oil in the month of June, at a cost of $25 billion, representing nearly two-thirds of total consumption (See Wall Street Journal). With 70% of imported oil going into cars and trucks - the heart of our nation's transportation system - Iran's newly 'elected' president, Ahmadinejad, expressed his country's complete and utter support for the right of all Americans to drive large SUV's, Pick-Up Trucks, and roomy Sedans.
And in related news; Iran is seeking to join hands with the USA's most influential oil industry trade group, The American Petroleum Institute, in support of a newly formed pro oil organization, Energy Citizens, as it rallies opposition (primarily with meet-ups attended by oil industry employees) against any legislation that may curtail harmful emissions or tackle the growing effects of climate change. No word yet on if Ahmadinejad plans to speak at one of the many functions planned for Houston and Washington DC.

Wind Turbine Becomes Colossal LED Christmas Decoration

siemens turbine star led photoImages: Siemens
After a year of engineering, modeling, and trials, the world's largest Christmas star now hovers above the A9 Autobahn near Munich's northern gateway. Affixed to the three blades of the massive wind turbine--70-meters tip to tip--are 9,000 light-emitting diodes (LEDs), all of which use less power than a hairdryer. The surreal pinwheel is a collaboration between Siemens, a world leader is wind power, and multi-media artist Michael Pendry. We've seen LEDs used in ...Read the full story on TreeHugger
